Tuscan previews the second day: Chianti lovers of the Ex Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence
The second day of the Tuscan Previews is dedicated to Chianti and took place as last year in the former factory of Florence Tabacchi.
Many participating companies, and many wines for tasting (more than 180). Mainly vintages for tasting were 2015 to 2013 for the Chianti and Chianti Riserva. The Chianti Rufina saw affected instead the difficult year 2014 (especially for a cold area such as this one).
The 2015 there appears to be very expressive vintage where they emerge in a clear manner the fruity and floral sensations, along with a pleasant freshness, in spite of a vintage hot enough.
The year 2013 (the most regular in 2015 and 2014) gives us several of our best tasting.
Here are the usual overview of our best tasting:
Chianti Riserva Vigna of Shells 2013 – Poggiotondo: elegance, depth, with mineral tones and spiced with great extension and final closure of small berries;
Chianti 2015 – Villa Travignoli: brilliantly combines the approachability to the structure, with velvety tannins, smoky tones and closing of blood orange;
Chianti Colli Aretini 2015 – Mannucci Droandi: the flavor and succulence are at the center of tasting, for this highly appealing wine that leaves fruity and floral notes;
Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva 2013 – The Cherry: Mediterranean tones are combined with spicy sensations and are the prelude to a fascinating and juicy taste;
Chianti Colli Senesi 2015 – The Cherry: the sip is progressive and dynamic, and tells us of spicy and mineral sensations. Very drinkable:
Chianti Superiore 2014 – Fattoria San Fabiano: hints of violets and lily, mineral tones and fruity finish for a fresh chianti, from the quality tannin, which leaves balsamic memories;
Chianti 2015 – Azienda Agricola Giacomo Mori: vibrant, powerful, juicy and enveloping, mineral and elegant, ended with orange tones crabgrass and sweet spices;
Chianti 2015 – Varramista Farm: long mineral aftertaste for a great chianti drinkability;
Chianti Rufina 2014 – Frascole: got through a difficult year like 2014 with fruity and floral tones and a pleasant wake tasty and iodine;
Chianti Riserva 2013 – Frascole: juiciness and finesse of the tannins are the main features; depth, pleasantness and enveloping close the framework;
Chianti Superiore 2015 – Poggiotondo: excellent material and great momentum, complex, closed with beautiful notes of Mediterranean;
Chianti Rufina Riserva 2013 – Marchesi de ‘Frescobaldi: balsamic tones and wild berries; the tannins are smooth and the drink is rich and enveloping;
Chianti Riserva 2013 – The Cignozza: floral part (purple) prevails over the fruity, and anticipates a rich taste that ends with a long trail of Mediterranean;
Chianti Riserva 2013 – Camperchi: perhaps slightly combed, but pleasant and fine, with notes ranging from cocoa to sweet spices, quality tannins, and a balsamic finish;
Chianti 2015 – Lavacchio Farm: power, elegance, drinkability and length; grants smoky sensations and mineral tones;
Chianti 2015 – Usiglian Bishop: violet sensations, pomegranate and cherry combine with juiciness and the blood orange notes. The finish is all about flavor and juiciness.
