20 Feb CHIANTI LOVERS: THE PREVIEW OF THE CHIANTI CONSORTIUM
“We started the 2019 – commented the president of the Consorzio Chianti Giovanni Busi – with a party for the productive world, for the operators of the sector and for all the lovers of this excellent product”.
This is the most significant extract of the Closing Conference of the Chianti Consorzio Preview held Sunday 10 February at Fortezza da Basso.
In support of President Busi’s statement, the increasingly considerable and conspicuous numbers that accompanied the event.
NUMBERS
4 thousand visitors, 150 companies from all the territories belonging to the Consortium, over 400 bloggers, influencers and accredited journalists, the need to have to occupy the Cavaniglia Pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso.
“The attention that international operators have been giving us for some time has been strengthened. A strategic choice in view of the upcoming promotional events of the Chianti Consortium around the world “. This is how Chianti Lovers , in the words of President Busi, closes its doors for the 2019 edition.
So far the necessary space for efficient organization. Now let’s talk about the wines featured in the preview.
First we recall the areas of Chianti Lovers :
Colli Aretini
Colli Senesi
Colli Fiorentini
Pisan hills
Montalbano
Montespertoli
Rufina
CHIANTI DOCG 2018, CHIANTI DOCG 2017, CHIANTI DOCG RISERVA 2016
Many samples of barrel (2018) so much that, some companies, presented the 2017 Docg as a bottle just introduced on the market.
The rankings
My Top Ten ranging in all areas and sub-consortium areas:

Once the Preview was over, the other significant moment of this Chianti Lovers was the meeting with the producers.
Return to those indicated and taste the other harvests to better understand the production identities. And here the wines of: emerge from my trusty moleskine:
Villa Cilnia Arezzo,
Fattoria Uccelliera Colline Pisane,
the Cerretello Chianti Superiore 2015 and the Riserva 2015 of Moro di Pava both in the magnum version of the Pisan company Pieve de ‘Pitti,
Pietraserena with its reds from San Gimignano,
the Chianti 2015 and the Riserva 2012 of the Podere Alberese Asciano Siena.
And since the scores on the wines like them here, in “stars” format, my opinion on the Preview Chianti Lovers 2019:
2018 vintage: 4 stars
Harvest 2017: 4 stars
2016 harvest (reserves): 5 stars
Chapeau!
